Elle Decor July/August 2010

Here's a quick peek into Elle Decor's July/August issue. The cover features Dransfield and Ross's Georgian Revival estate and I love how all the seating varies in seat height. I was trying to have my client warm up to the idea of having different levels of seating, but she wasn't really going for it. Maybe this issue will help convince her since its usually easier when you get to visualize object in a room opposed to imagining it. I think one of the hardest parts about designing someone else's space is gaining your clients trust. It's not always easy to agree to items when you don't see them prior to a purchase, and often times the designer is out and about searching for items and has to grab a piece on the spot. I noticed, it's in the beginning stages of the design process where the client gets to warm up to the designer and their ideas and eventually trusts his/her judgment with trial and error. At the end of the day, they hired him/her for a reason, didnt they?
Take a look at some of the highlights on the new issue of Elle Decor, don-t forget to pick up you copy!
